Quick Skincare Tip – Yogurt & Lime

IMG_1738

On days when my skin feels tired, dry and absolutely dull looking, I take a lime, squeeze into some yogurt, mix and apply. It truly feels so refreshing and taste pretty good too! Open-mouthed smile

Untitled 225

Limes are chock-full of vitamin C which is great for whitening and brightening. However, since it can be a tad bit stingy when applied to the skin alone, I find yogurt to be a great compliment, as it  balances out the acidic properties, all while soothing and moisturizing the skin.

My skin feels brighter and more supple after leaving it on for 15 minutes. Also, I like to chill my yogurt first as my skin feels cool & relaxed & I like to think that it’s working to shrink my pores. Apply it like a mask and if you want and feel free to add some blended oats for a thicker consistency.

Hope you enjoy licking it up too!

Jessie J Inspired Look

image

Jessie J kinda grew on me. I didn’t really like her at first but after watching her on the Brit Awards 2011, I fell in love with this gorgeous rebel. I love her jet black pin straight hair and her fierce eyeliner looks. She looks sensational with smokey eyes and can rock so many heavily lined, smokey, angular eyes looks.

Do it like a dude

I want her hair so badly!!! ><

I’ve never felt  the urge to try black on my lips but JJ’s inspired me to do so and here I am wearing NYX black bean on my eyes and lips. I am wearing Obsessive compulsive loose pigment in ironic on my eyes and lips.

I felt like such a Goth & rebel with the black lipstick and dark eyes. Only thing missing was the black hair Sad smile It was so refreshing to go so dark as I’ve been doing cutesy Korean and Japanese looks that I’ve forgotten what it was like to be totally daring and bold with makeup. I’m glad that Jessie J brought black back because I’m once again inspired to wear more smokey eye looks.

I wonder if people’s jaws would drop if I walked out on the street like this?

Hee hee… Singapore is a pretty conservative country Smile with tongue out

L`OREAL Curl Impact Collagene Mascara

IMG_1622IMG_1623

Oh wow. L`OREAL Curl Impact Collagene curls, lifts, defines and is easily removed with water. Did I mention that it does not smudge easily throughout the day as well.

This mascara has a unique spiral curler which seems to do a good job of lifting lashes and helping lashes hold their curl. There’s some instructions on the box about how to use the mascara but for me I kinda just take it out of the tube and apply because who has the time to look at the wand and try to wiggle it in the correct angel?

It doesn’t really make any difference to me as well.

IMG_1621

As you can tell, my lashes are nicely defined and it holds the curl almost all day long. It does take around 20 seconds or so to dry upon application but it’s not as wet as some of Rimmel’s mascara and it definitely sets very well. I had no smudges even in hot weather and my lashes remained soft and curled.

Removal is easy with warm water and I love how kindly tube mascaras treat my sparse fragile lashes.  After using tube mascaras, I do find it very difficult to use normal waterproof mascaras now because normal waterproof mascaras in comparison tend to be very difficult to remove and aren’t as smudge proof.

One thing to note with tube technology type mascaras is that you have to ensure that your lashes are clean. They need clean and dry to latch onto nicely. There was one time when I washed my face, some mascara ran off and upon trying to reapply, this mascara made my lashes look a little clumpy and kinda unattractive. An easy step for this type of mascara to work well is to have clean lashes Smile

The only downside I can find about this mascara ( I love the gold tube btw) is the price. It cost around 27 SGD which is steep for a drugstore mascara! Well, great packaging, great formula and wonderfully curled defined lashes comes with a high price.

Top Shop Eye Shadow `

IMG_1586

Hi Everyone! I just got these Topshop matte eye shadows and I’ve been using them quite a bit. The quality of these matte shadows is pretty decent and I like Porcelain a lot! Porcelain is an off white matte that blends nicely into the brow bone while Afternoon Tea ( brown shade ) is more challenging to work with.

IMG_1587IMG_1589

It’s a nice chocolately brown that is ultra pigmented and I find a little more difficult to blend in due to its matte nature. Overall, I think these matte eye shadows are pretty good for the low price point and distinctive top shop packaging.

I’ve blended afternoon tea just above my crease and am wearing porcelain on my brow area and lids.

Have you tried any Top shop cosmetic products that you’d  recommend? I saw some of their makeup brushes but it didn’t look that great to me. Also, their lip products seem pretty cute but I’m not sure if they are any good. I know a lot of bloggers like Top Shop blushers.

Nature Republic Black Gel Eyeliner + Hair Color Woes

image

Remember my Goo Hara post just recently? I was using Nature Republic Gel Eyeliner for my eyes and I gotta say that I love this tub of black carbon goodness.

My mom was complaining to me about Nature Republic and how it doesn’t match up to The Face Shop but I find their Eyeliners excellent. There is a nice amount of product in the tub and it doesn’t dry out like some gel eyeliners. The black color is natural enough yet buildable to a nice smokey black. It applies smoothly with an angled slim brush and dries in a snap. It doesn’t smudge easily and looks pretty for hours. I love this gel eyeliner and suggest you try it! I am going to pick up the dark brown gel liner soon because I love it so much!

                                  -------------------------

Sigh.. I wish I had great things to say about my hair but the colors been driving me nuts.

Why can’t I look good with my natural black hair? I wouldn’t bat an eyelid to dye my hair in the past because I had more time, more money to burn and I could at least cover the roots once it started annoying me. Now a days, I don’t have the luxury of time to recolor my roots BUT I really loathe my black hair. I find myself wanting to keep my natural dark roots but I find it hard to look at myself with darker hair. I find with black hair, I tend to look older & a little more tired.

Overall, black hair just doesn’t suit me Sad smile

So now what else is holding me back from getting my hair dyed? I can’t seem to agree on a color. I find light hair a little passé, streaked hair hard to maintain and browns a little boring. What in the world do I do with my hair? Ugh. I hate hair dilemmas.

Oh and the worst part is that just when you are about to dye your hair, suddenly it behaves and looks good. Such an annoying syndrome.

Multi tone monstrosity with Black Roots showing. Ugh…
