New Year Party Lashes – Elise, Cosmo & Ballerina Review

How do you say no to these beautiful party Elise lashes ? Honestly, these are feel so light weight and look so so pretty. I can see why people rave about Elise Lashes. Apparently, Elise manufacture MAC lashes too ….

kkcenterhk  generously provided Elise 430 which is a black feathery lash for me to review. I’ve tried random feather lashes and they always end up looking so cheap and trashy. Elise feather lashes are perfect. They have the perfect curvature and the length fits perfectly. I did not have to trim the lashes at all. Also, they were so comfortable to wear which was strange considering how elaborate looking these are.Initially, I had my sights  on the moth looking one or the white feather one but kkcenterhk informed me that they were out of stock so I decided to go for the black one instead. REALLY LUV IT!

IMG_0463

You do not have to be a pro to wear these at all. Easy peasy.

IMG_0488

I feel like getting a truckload of Elise lashes now. I kinda realized that every time a company sends me stuff to test out, I end up becoming their customer!?!!!

Anyhow, moving on to the next eyelash-  Cosmos. I got cosmos pre-glued lashes 102. I wanted an eyelash that wasn’t one length and was irregular in length, so I got this one. This eyelash reminds me soo much of Revlon fantasy length which I reviewed quite a while back. I like how easy it is to wear these lashes. Great for everyday wear. I only trimmed the length slightly, so for those of you with longer eyes, these lashes may be a little too short for you. Did I mention these are like self adhesive lashes. They come with a replaceable band. Being the paranoid person I am, I still apply lash glue when I use these.

Once again, I’m impressed with the Ballerina Lashes. For the price you pay, you get a big box of lashes and  they are easy to wear too. Ballerina CM406 is perfect for gyaru or dolly eye looks. These are very very long so I would recommend them for night or party goers definitely. They don’t feel as comfortable or as light weight as the Elise 430 lashes to be honest but I like how these lashes dolly up any eye look!

Overall, I’m really happy with kkcenterhk products and cant wait to try more Elise lashes! Any to recommend???

Blovet Beauty Skincare Routine January 2011

Thanks for your sweet comments in my previous update entry. U guys are so sweet!!

Ok. My boys are sleeping which is a rare rare thing and I finally have quiet time to myself! I never valued free time as much as I do now! hee hee.

Yes, I’ve been receiving emails and comments on my skin and what I’ve been using blah blah but so you know, I’m not 100% happy with my skin. I tend to scrutinize it too much and find flaws that I don’t like. However, I am very very relieved and happy that I have found and stuck to a skincare routine that does not-

a) break me out

b) clog my pores

c) dull my skin

You would think I have a million products but really my current skincare routine is simple and easy. I’ve tried countless high end to drugstore products but these are the few that work.

IMG_0414

NIGHT SKINCARE ROUTINE

(V. very important as skin is recovering and healing from 11pm onwards )

Step 1:

I use olive oil + makeup remover to rid my face of all makeup first. Taking a little bit of SKII and Baking Soda, I wash my face thoroughly.

Step 2:

I apply my Glycolic Cream. This is the best glycolic cream I have used. I have been using this for 2 plus years and it still works so damn well. I’ve tried glycolic creams from other brands but none matched up. It kills pimples and evens out skin tone very well. I’ve had some orders for this cream but it’s not cheap so I might start selling sample sizes on blovetbabee so you guys can give it a try too. Seriously I would die without this cream.

Step 3 ( I do not do this step every night):

Dr Secrets Skin Light. Next best lightening product to my glycolic cream. When I had acne, I had to mix this product with a moisturizing cream. Using it straight would aggravate my acne but when I mixed it with a moisturizer, it soothed and healed blemishes. Now that my acne is under control, I use this straight. My skin is accustomed to it and it helps maintain fair and glowing skin. However, I sometimes use it twice every week if I feel like my skin isn't too dull or tired looking

DAY SKINCARE ROUTINE

Step 1:

Use SKII cleanser

Step 2:

I apply SPECTRABAN Sunblock or Dr Secrets Sunblock ( gives a foundation like effect)

** Spectraban is an excellent sunblock in my opinion but it does not give that glow like Dr Secrets. It also has a strong smell that turned me off totally during my pregnancy. I am not sure how others take to it but its one sunblock that doesn’t clog my pores at all. All other sunblock brands I’ve tried have clogged or caused breakouts. I have super sensitive skin.

Spectraban SPF 60
- non greasy & hypoallergenic ( it does look greasy on me!)

- Perfume Free ( very impt for sensitive skin)

- Vit E

-Water resistent

I do not ever use foundation or powder. I only use concealor where needed. Foundations and powder have always clogged my skin up.

Extra Tips for Clear Skin

+Try to go for a weekend without any foundation, powder or concealor. Skin needs to breathe

+Try to get some time in the day to relax. Stress always brings on pimples for me.

+Hydrate

+Never skip sunblock in the day. It’s like reversing the lightening effects of the night before.

+DON’T TOUCH YOUR SKIN. My mom taught my at a young age to burst my pimples. MY GAWD that left me with tiny scars. I love my mom but that’s the worse advice EVER. Touching your skin makes it worse. Just leave it alone. Really.

+ OK. I have gone through pregnancy and during that time I rarely got a pimple. I could use soap to wash my face ( *gasp*) and not have to use much glycolic and my skin would be a okay. I am convinced hormones are the culprit for breakouts- occasional or serious. It’s a vicious cycle.

Stress-> body & mind feels stress- >messes with hormones – >pimples.

You may think you aren’t stress but hidden stress is also a trigger for fluctuating hormones. That’s why people like to say that you get less breakouts as you grow older. They assume that people hormones stabilize but that cant be further from the truth.

I love helping people achieve beautiful skin.l always have and I hope this article helped. I’m also on a lifelong quest for beautiful skin !

I’m back + Update

Hi hi, I’m back!

Took a short breather to sort out some personal issues and what a week it’s been.

On the beauty front, I received a pretty parcel from my good pal Gerry ( yes again!) It’s pretty pretty pretty! LuvsSmile

Then, I received more lashes from kkcenterhk to review. I deliberately picked lashes that I normally wouldn’t reach for, to explore new looks.

IMG_0104 (2)

Following which, I actually WON a GIVEAWAY by Shop N' Chomp. If you know me and my totally crappy luck, you would know that I was shocked! Omg.

I won an inglot product!!! Yippie!!! Thanks LISA sweetie!

( Took this cute picture from Lisa’s Blog. Go check it out!)

Lastly, I managed to squeeze in subcision on my cheek at my dermatologist. Kinda felt that she didn’t quite prick the right spot. Sad smile  Also, she told me that my eyebrow scar is growing and it is basically an overactive sweat gland. She offered to remove it partially but that left me a little torn. A lot of people think it’s a big pimple or some growth but I have had it all my life so it doesn’t even strike me as odd and my dad likes to call it my pot of gold. Well, this pot of gold is growing and it looks so red and ugly a lot now. Sigh, I’ve grown so accustomed to this birthmark but I might get it partially removed in march – it keeps expanding for some reason….

Well, back to subcision - here is a scary subcision picture I took. The healing process sucks but subcision is the only process that can really resurface pit holes or pock marks or any non-superficial scarring ( scars that do not look any better when you stretch the skin).Anyhow, it looks scary but the results are worth it!

IMG_0337

I know I said lastly but to top it all off, I accidentally washed my blue contacts down the sink! hahaha.. Shit happens and I’m moving on. I’m still happy cause I’ll be collecting some GEO lenses this Sunday_ Yippie!

IMG_0233

The End. Thank goddness it’s Friday tomorrow! I want to go out with my boys!!!

Bourjois 1001 Cils/Lashes Black Quartz Review

IMG_1567

I have a mad obsession with finding the best drugstore mascara out there. I don’t believe in spending a lot of money on high end mascaras because they are meant to be thrown away after a few months and it’s absolute heartache to toss out branded mascaras Sad smile But, I do want to try Lancôme , YSL and Givenchy mascara one day..

I prefer drugstore mascaras because it doesn’t hurt when I throw it away. So, I love bourjois eye shadows and thought I might give their mascaras a try and picked up the Bourjois 1001 Cils/Lashes Black Quartz sometime in December 2010.

IMG_1568

Here’s the wand. I like the size of it. It’s not too big that it smudges my eye lids and small enough to get my tiny lashes.

IMG_1572

The color is a nice rich black which I find very flattering and the formula is not too wet or dry. I find this to be a decent mascara that lengthens a little and thickens a little and holds a curl pretty decently. Also, it separates well. This mascara is pretty decent but I paid around 24 SGD if I am not mistaken.

Downside about this mascara is that it’s not waterproof and if water gets on your face, you will have black streaks on your cheeks for sure. I  am okay with the fact that this mascara isn’t waterproof only because it is super easy to remove. All I do is go in the shower with a tiny bit of cleansing oil and it basically dissolves away…

A good all rounder mascara overall but I am not sure if I will repurchase because there are so many other mascaras to try!

Doll lash ~

IMG_0008

My sister got me this set of Doll Lash when she went up to Malaysia just a month ago and it’s been sitting pretty in my makeup stash. Finally got to use it and I must say, it’s superb quality! It’s made in Korea and Korean lashes always work amazingly well.

IMG_0007

IMG_0011

I’m going to stock up on these lashes cause it’s high quality and affordable. The band is soft but rigid enough and and the lashes have such a doll like effect. I love it!!

My Beauty Resolutions 2011 & Pin Up Inspired Look

IMG_3093

I know it’s a little late for my beauty resolutions 2011 but better late than never.I’ll list 5 each.

Skin Related Resolutions:-

1) Scar Reduction -

To work on smoothening out existing scars. I would like a series of subcision & laser treatment to resurface skin. I have one scar on the cheek I want to kill off totally ( cause it reminds me of a really stressful time in my life) and smoothen out some smaller older scars on my forehead.

I’ve avoided the dermatologist for the longest time during my pregnancy, so now is the time to start. Scars get stubborn with age.

2) DIY chemical peels once a month

3) To slap on a face mask every twice a week.

4) To eat fruits everyday for my skin

5) To try and find the best home skin smoothening remedy. I’m testing out apple cider, yogurt, baking soda… so I can share the results with you.

Beauty Resolutions:-

1) To be more adventurous with lip colors and not do nudes all the time.

2) To use more of what I already have

3) Stop impulse buying. Ok. Minimize impulse buying.

4) To always draw my brows when I leave my home. No Excuses.

5) To buy colors for lipsticks or eye shadows that I don’t have.

** On a total side note, I want to start doing some OOTD looks. This is to inspire me to eat healthy and lose the remaining baby weight!

KATE Dual Eyes Blend PK 1

IMG_2814
I know I promised a GD & TOP inspired look but  I’m currently nursing a fever and flu and don’t have the strength for it. Poor baby and I fell really sick over the weekend and spent it hibernating and sleeping non stop. I’m feeling a tiny itsy bit better and wanted to share with you a really good eye shadow to wear to work or to use for a natural subdued look.
IMG_2777
IMG_2815
I love how smooth KATE eye shadows apply and this is one drugstore brand that matches up to high end brands. In terms of pigmentation and color range, I find the color blend smooth, shimmery and very wearable for work or play.
Without Flash + White Light:
Wore the brown as a high corner crease.
IMG_2828
With Flash:
IMG_2781
I didn’t use a base  in the pictures above ( LAZY) so the colors tend to show up a bit lighter. For more intense pigmentation, use a good base like Too Faced Shadow Insurance and it’ll be super obvious. The best part about this soft velvety eyeshadow is that you can use you fingers to blend it out. Easy peasy!

Take care and drink more water, the weather here in Singapore has been dreadful Sad smile

My absolute favourite G dragon is back with TOP and I love his new song KNOCK OUT!
OMG. This is what style is about.
I’m working on the makeup look G dragon has in this video for my upcoming post. A really clean smokey black lined eye and more defined eyebrows. Love this new look of his immensely!
Enjoy the video Smile

Kate Liquid Rouge BE-5

IMG_2615

Kate Liquid Rouge BE-5 was yet another impulse buy and something I did not regret at all. It’s a work appropriate color and a very natural shade that anyone can pull off.

IMG_2621

IMG_2620

As you can see from the swatches, the lip gloss has very fine shimmery sparkles that is quite flattering. This lip gloss feels very thick and moisturizing.

IMG_2613

This three tier color lip gloss design is adorable but it stays separated for a few weeks of usage max. and afterwards, the colors tend to meld in with one another and starts to resemble any old lip gloss. Kate has this cutie gloss in another pink shade that I almost bought in place of BE-5. I did think long and hard and felt that I had way too many pink shades in my collection already. This beige-ish natural shade would be a nice change.

Here’s a picture of me wearing it. It was pretty late, sorry about the lighting.
